Voice Spark Live is excited to have a great discussion with Alexis is a Human & Human Alexas founders Jennifer and Lauren Johnson
In this very special episode we take a deep dive in the ethics of technology and the human results of decisions made from the highest and developer level.
Lauren Johnson
Lauren’s story began with a letter to Amazon for her daughter. It has unfolded into a worldwide issue of ethics, bullying, harassment, sexism, and corporate responsibility. Teens are dealing with suicidal ideation as a result of the wake name. Today, we are an organization mission to create change.
Alexa is a Human seeks to raise awareness of the harm and negative impact that product branding can create through understanding both corporate ethics and responsibility, as well as name bombardment. Our mission and two main goals as an organization are to raise public awareness of the profoundly negative consequences of utilizing a human name for a virtual assistant, and for Amazon to rebrand the wake word of its virtual assistant product, commonly known as Alexa.
Jennifer Human Alexas
Jennifer and her family began looking to raise awareness and help the public understand how using the wake name Alexa for any device is hurting her family and countless others. We have evolved into a worldwide organization working toward change.
They began this journey thinking that the technology would be a quick fad and gave our daughter Alexa ways to stop the bullying. They have helped her to build resiliency, and firmly believe in her using her own voice in most situations. Jennifer and her husband never expected their daughter to be bullied in public by complete strangers. They knew this was different. Then they met countless others with heartbreaking stories.
